Vraag:
Dear Tony Please could you tell me, how many bags of scratchings one pig makes?
Kind regards

A difficult question to answer
The rind we use comes from Denmark & is a bi-product of the bacon industry.
A typical pig is bred to the weight of 75kilo. The rind used for Scratchings comes only from the shank. At a guess this would probably be about 3 kilo max of rind per pig. During the coolinh process 3 kilo of rind nakes 1 kilo of Scratchings (We make various size bags of Scratchings ranging from 20g to 100g in weight. Taking a typical 50g bag you could make 20 bags from 1 kilo of rind. Trust that helps but I'm intrigued why you are interested in this information.
Regards
Alan
So daar het julle dit nou. 20 sakkies per 1 varkie. So volgende keer as jy by sakkie 20 kom beter jy 'n gebedjie sĂȘ!
